Going through Hell

The people of Christchurch are reeling after two major aftershocks rattled through the city on Monday. A 5.5 at 1pm was followed about an hour and a half later by a 6.3. It was close to where I live and I personally felt them both acutely. Once again we cleared up the mess, comforted friends and waited for the power to come back on.

Daily life here is a struggle as shops close and roads get torn up. Smaller, yet noticeable, aftershocks continue. And there is the constant fear of another big shake happening. I begin to doubt 'The Pledge' and would not blame anyone for leaving this city. But I do know that we are resilient here and perhaps in time we will come to terms with the fear and carry on.

In the words of Winston Churchill:

"If you're going through Hell - keep going".

I feel for all of you!!! Yup, what can you do but just keep going...hopefully you'll reach the light soon enough! But yep let's just pray that this particular tunnel stops gaining extensions!

Thanks for posting. I was so worried about you. Not much in our news about the quake. I didn't realize it was an aftershock. How the heck long will THAT keep going on. Screw the pledge. Do whatever you need to do to be normal and safe. Life's too short.

Winston Churchill's words are very pertinent to your situation Stoneweaver.

At the moment it must seem like you are taking one step forward and two steps backward but you couldn't possibly have become the person you are today if you had not had to contend with adversity on your way to this point in time.

In dealing with adversity, perhaps the four most important words that you can remember are these: This, too, shall pass. Whatever it is, however difficult it may appear, say to yourself, This, too, shall pass.

I know you will find the inner strength to keep moving forward my dear friend. You have within you, right now, everything you need to deal with whatever the world can throw at you.

Your sky photo is hellishly beautiful!

Big heart hugs

Unfortunately I know what you're talking about dear. Went to visit some kids today and bought a cake on the other side of the city. My shoes were grey of mud and I stumbled over the holes in the parking place. Not good. Take care and kia kaha

This glorious sky seems to reflect the beauty of your inner strength! You seem not to be the person that left other shores a while ago! You have grown and spread the wonder of your wings! It really shows! Namaste!

My first visit here from Australia, though Marja. As Churchill urged, 'Keep going'.

Thanks for your comments. Sorry I've been AWOL lately - family matters.

I hope all my blog buddies are doing fine and I'll get round to catching up with you soon! x
